Wireless Transmission for image picture BMP or JPEG

Some clients want the wireless transmitter for image pictures of BMP or JPEG, not actual video. For Example, here are a client’s demand details.

We are interested in unidirectional video transmission at a distance of 15 km in line of sight. It is required to transmit individual frames of BMP format or a JPEG of 1280×1024 pixels without errors. The operating temperature range of the product is from minus 40 to plus 50 ° C.

iVcan: So what type of image output interface do I need?
Buyer: We can transfer data via a USB interface
iVcan: The default is the Rj45
Buyer: We use a regular laptop, RJ45 is busy with other functions, and free USB ports.
iVcan: The USB interface can only be connected to the video
Pictures can only be taken through the Ethernet
Or we can turn the pictures into videos. And then use our image transmission.
BMP files can be huge, JPEG file format will be much smaller
But we can do 3Mb per second, I believe It can meet your needs.

Buyer: What is the operating temperature range of the product? It is required from minus 40 to plus 50 ° C.
iVcan: Operating temperature range is no problem to support minus 40 to plus 50 ° C.
iVcan: Does the 15 kilometers you asked for mean that there is no obstacle between the transmission and reception?
If there are obstacles there is no way to guarantee the distance

Buyer: Can you transfer a BMP 1280×724 frame without loss? If so, at what time?
iVcan: It’s hard to say there is no loss. For wireless transmission, there is no way to guarantee 100%. If you must have a guarantee, you should use a two-way transmission system, the two-way wireless transmission can verify the data; The One-way transmission itself is unable to send the feedback to the transmitter that it loses your package or not.
Buyer: Indeed, a two-way transmission is needed. Previously, we used radio modems. However, we were not satisfied with its characteristics.

The engineer also wants to know if your transmitter is a PC or other device.
If there are two computers connected by a net cable, do you know what software is used to transfer pictures?
We are only responsible for wireless transmission, but how to create and how to send pictures should have, or know, right?
Because my engineer said, he won’t know how your picture is produced, and how long will it be produced.
We just provide a wireless transmission scheme of 15 kilometers.

Here we have two types of products, two-way solution, and one-way solution.

  1. If the buyer wants to transmit pictures instead of videos, please use one-way network transparent transmission and transmit them through UDP packets. For example, the picture is split into several UDP packets, and then each UDP packet is added to the header to facilitate the reorganization of the receiver. Of course, this is the application logic of the upper layer, which needs to be implemented by the client’s own host computer. For one-way network transparent transmission, it only recognizes UDP packets.
  2. “Without errors”, this is unrealistic, the one-way cofdm link itself cannot avoid errors (such as long distance, or interference); if the customer has such a requirement, it is recommended that he use the two-way network transparent transmission link, and then use the TCP protocol for transmission.
  3. USB should be used as a specific device, such as USB serial port, or USB network port, etc. At present, our USB is only used to connect U disk video.
  4. We have not implemented USB transmission and do not plan to implement it, because we have connected USB cameras to foreign customers before. The test found that the high-power PA output will interfere with the USB interface, and even cause the USB interface to self-protect (it needs to be powered on again to use it).
  5. BMP will be large (MB level), and JPEG will be smaller (KB level), but no matter which one, a UDP packet cannot be transmitted.
  6. The one-way transparent transmission rate, the default shipment is about 3Mbps, the transmission of a 1280×1024 bmp format picture takes about 1s, and the transmission of a jpg picture is even shorter.
  7. It is meaningless to talk about the frame rate of picture transmission aside, for example, it can also be transmitted through the serial port of digital transmission, but the transmission is slow (a few seconds)~
  8. For the cofdm one-way video transmission (not one-way network transparent transmission) of conventional shipments, customers who have high and low-temperature requirements will pay them to do high and low-temperature tests according to the industrial temperature range (-40°C~85°C).
  9. The one-way cofdm video transmission that we are going to ship recently will be tested for high and low-temperature. At that time, we can also bring the one-way network transparent transmission to test.
  10. We provide UDP packages, and we don’t have the upper-layer software for splitting pictures into UDP packages. Customers should also develop their own host computer software.
