Wireless Video Transmitter and Receiver for live streaming body-worn camera HDMI SDI

We are looking for a mini transmitter (body-worn) with either HDMI, SDI, or USB-C video/audio input. Best if USB-C is able to power also the body-worn camera. Receiver size is not that important. It requires HDMI or SDI out. CVBS is not required.

All sets of the transmitter and receiver will be used just indoors. Please let me know if you may have any.
Solution. We must hang it with some belt packs, and must also consider the best way to cool the transmitter to avoid overheating. The body may add additional warmth to it.

Anyway, it will be used for a period of like 2 hours, then break. The purpose is for sports referees.

  • SDI in or even USB-C
  • Indoor about 300 meters
  • Small size
  • Frequency adjustable to avoid local frequency interference
  • Good heat dissipation
  • Latency 200~300 milliseconds (Camera has 130 milliseconds; from transmitter to receiver’s monitor has 150 milliseconds)

Wireless Video Transmitter and Receiver for Live Streaming Body-Worn Cameras (HDMI/SDI/USB-C Input)

Our Wireless Video Transmitter and Receiver System is specifically designed for live streaming applications using body-worn cameras, providing high-quality, low-latency video transmission over short to medium indoor distances. This solution is particularly ideal for sports referees, event monitoring, and indoor professional applications, where mobility, compact design, and stable video transmission are critical.

Transmitter Features and Design Considerations

The body-worn transmitter is miniaturized, lightweight, and designed to be worn comfortably on the belt or clipped onto clothing. Despite its small size, it delivers reliable HD video transmission via HDMI, SDI, or USB-C inputs. USB-C input is especially advantageous because it can both carry video/audio signals and provide power to the body-worn camera, simplifying the overall setup and reducing the need for additional batteries.

Key transmitter specifications include:

  1. Video Input Options: HDMI, SDI, USB-C. This versatility allows operators to connect a wide range of professional or consumer cameras. SDI input ensures compatibility with professional broadcast-grade cameras, while USB-C provides modern flexibility.
  2. Transmission Range: Designed for indoor use, the system provides stable video transmission up to approximately 300 meters, ensuring smooth operation in gymnasiums, stadiums, arenas, or other indoor facilities.
  3. Frequency Flexibility: The transmitter supports adjustable frequencies, which helps avoid interference from local Wi-Fi networks, Bluetooth devices, or other RF sources in crowded environments.
  4. Heat Dissipation: Body-worn transmitters generate heat due to proximity to the human body and electronic components. The device incorporates efficient thermal management, including ventilation slots, heat sinks, and low-power circuitry, to maintain safe operating temperatures for continuous use over periods of up to 2 hours. After use, the device can be set aside for a short break before the next session.
  5. Low Latency: Latency is critical for live streaming and referee applications. Our system achieves a total end-to-end latency of approximately 200–300 milliseconds, including 130 milliseconds from the camera itself and 150 milliseconds from the transmitter to the receiver’s monitor. This ensures near real-time feedback, which is essential for decision-making and instant replay analysis.
  6. Compact and Wearable Design: The miniaturized transmitter is designed for belt or body mounting, offering secure attachment without restricting movement. This makes it ideal for referees, coaches, or security personnel who need unobtrusive yet reliable video transmission.

Receiver Features and Output

The receiver unit is designed with flexibility and performance in mind. While size is less critical than the transmitter, the receiver ensures stable HD output and reliable reception for real-time monitoring.

  1. Video Output Options: The receiver provides HDMI or SDI output, enabling direct connection to monitors, NVRs, switchers, or broadcast equipment. CVBS output is not included, as it is unnecessary for HD professional setups.
  2. Signal Reliability: The receiver maintains a stable signal indoors up to 300 meters, even in environments with multiple reflective surfaces, obstacles, or potential RF interference.
  3. Status Monitoring: The receiver can display real-time signal strength, SNR, and system status, allowing operators to adjust positions, antennas, or frequencies for optimal reception.
  4. AES Encryption (Optional): For applications requiring secure transmission, AES-128 or AES-256 encryption can be enabled, preventing unauthorized access to the video feed.

Application Scenarios

This wireless video transmission kit is particularly suited for:

  • Sports and Event Referees: Live streaming from body-worn cameras ensures that referees’ perspectives are captured in real-time for broadcast, replay, or performance analysis.
  • Indoor Security Operations: Security personnel or event marshals can carry mini transmitters to provide high-definition video coverage from multiple viewpoints.
  • Professional Broadcasting: Supports live streaming for events, interviews, and indoor productions without extensive cabling.
  • Training and Coaching: Coaches can monitor and analyze the actions of referees or players with near real-time feedback.

Additional Technical Advantages

  1. COFDM Modulation: The system uses COFDM downlink transmission, ensuring high resilience against multipath interference and signal fading common in indoor environments. This allows the video signal to maintain stability even in crowded halls or reflective surfaces.
  2. Long-Range Indoor Reliability: While the primary use is indoors, the system is capable of maintaining a reliable signal for approximately 300 meters, sufficient for most indoor arenas, gyms, and stadiums.
  3. Cooling and Operational Safety: The transmitter is designed with active and passive heat dissipation measures, ensuring continuous operation without overheating. Even when mounted close to the body, the system remains cool and safe.
  4. User-Friendly Operation: Operators can easily configure frequencies, monitor signal strength, and view real-time video, ensuring smooth workflow without complicated setup or frequent adjustments.
  5. Integration Flexibility: The system supports HDMI, SDI, or USB-C input/output, making it compatible with a wide variety of professional cameras and monitors. USB-C can simultaneously provide power to the camera, simplifying mobile setups and reducing the need for additional battery packs.

Conclusion

In summary, our Wireless Video Transmitter and Receiver Kit provides a compact, reliable, and high-performance solution for body-worn video applications. With support for HDMI, SDI, and USB-C input, low latency (200–300 ms), adjustable frequencies, and robust thermal management, it is an ideal choice for sports referees, indoor live streaming, event coverage, and professional monitoring.

The combination of a miniature transmitter with efficient heat dissipation and a flexible receiver ensures that operators can monitor real-time video with confidence, maintain high-quality video feeds, and perform critical operations indoors with minimal setup complexity.
